Gregory Alan Isakov played a show at The Roost in Bellingham, WA (9/12/12), and had me come up and play. (Pony made it on stage too!)
I've opened for him before and gotten to know him through the folk community, and I cannot say enough good things about this man. He has an amazing new album coming out in the near future. If you don't have any of his albums, I highly recommend that you purchase "This Empty Northern Hemisphere" and "That Sea, The Gambler" as soon as possible.

I have been "on the road" for 3 months as of today. I can now state for the record that I am lightning fast at packing up and unloading my car. Summer 2012 was pretty epic....and long. I don't care what the Texans say, it was in the 80s in March, and I call that summer weather. I've explored new places, met new faces, attended new festivals, written new songs, and seen many of my favorite folks. Now I'm tired and ready for fall. My current mantra is- "I'm right on time."
This week I hit the road for a show in Seattle, opening for John Craigie. After that I'm heading to Breitenbush Hot Springs in Oregon for a month while I fine tune my songs in preparation for recording in November in Austin. I'm excited to live in a geo-thermally heated cabin, soak and sauna every day, hike amongst ancient trees, drink tons of tea, and read read read. And work on songs of course. :)
In November, I am joining forces with Shawnee Kilgore for a fall tour west coast and southwestern tour. In the midst of the tour, we'll be attending The Taxi Road Rally in Los Angeles. Taxi is an organization that connects the television, commercial, and film industries with songs/writers for their programs. I'm hoping to sponge all the knowledge I can before hitting the road back to Austin, TX, where I will be working on my first EP.

I was an "artist wrangler" at Sisters Folk Festival, and got to work with artists Abigail Washburn, Catie Curtis, Gregory Alan Isakov, Mary Gautier, and many more. I had a blast. During the festival a forest fire broke out near Sisters and the neighborhood I was staying in was evacuated. Thankfully the wind changed direction and the houses did not burn.
