On August 1st, I found myself in a mountain forest, holding hands around a fire in celebration of a pagan holiday called Lammas. The short explanation is that Lammas celebrates the first fruits of the harvest and invokes "continued success" for all endeavors.
I love the idea of continued success. Its easy to feel negative, and I am constantly trying to keep myself out of that place. I am "unemployed" by choice, I have health issues that affect me on a daily basis, and I'm pursuing my passion in an industry that is challenging and new to me. Despite all of this, I trust that some power greater than myself is conspiring to shower me (and everyone) with blessings and love. For every bad thing that happens in my life, so many beautiful things occur. My worst trials have become my biggest blessings.
I turn 26 year old today. I'm 9 months out of my social work career and 9 months deeper into my artistic life. I am grateful to you, my friends, family, and community, for supporting me through a major life transition. The last year of my life has been challenging, scary, and absolutely beautiful, and I look to continued success for all of us.
